A Birthday Musical Tribute, organized in the auditorium of Jadunath Bhavan, Kolkata

Date: Category: Event

Hari’s daughter, Mrinalini Vasudevan, organized a musical tribute for her father on the eve of his 69th birthday, as an on-site event with restricted invitees. There were two sets of performances by a group of her friends. The evening began with remembrances by Mrinalini and Tapati and the launch of the website on Hari. The first half of the event featured a variety of Bengali songs by Manidipa Singha (musician, composer and song-writer), Taishi Nandi (the lead vocalist) and Sayantan Chatterjee (keyboardist). During the intermission there was an impromptu performance by Hari’s brother-in-law, Paranjoy Guha Thakurta (on the harmonica), and a family friend, Ranjan Palit (vocalist and guitarist). The second half featured Western songs from the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s performed by Rohan Das (Don Hasar). The music arrangements were by Tirthankar Ray.
