Discussion on History Textbooks & the Idea of India

Panel discussion on “History Textbooks and the Idea of India”, organized by the Seagull Foundation for the Arts at the Tollygunge Club, Kolkata, in August 2017, as a part of their annual History for Peace conference. The panelists here include Professor Krishna Kumar, who headed the NCERT project of new textbooks on history and the social sciences (from 2005–2009), Professor Hari Vasudevan who had served as the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on the social sciences, and Professor Shireen Maswood of the Department of History, Calcutta University.
